COMMERCIAL DRONE CONSTRUCTION, ENGINEERING AND DESIGN WORKSHOP IN-PERSON AND ONLINE

June 10 - June 23

COMMERCIAL DRONE CONSTRUCTION, ENGINEERING AND DESIGN WORKSHOP IN-PERSON AND ONLINE.

This course offers drone construction curriculum, technical hands-on training and know-how for building and designing drones, prototyping, ground station control, firmware and software, communication systems, debugging and simulations, and testing. Mentorship includes step-by-step training for building a complete commercial and autonomous multirotor or VTOL drone project. The UAV applications will include but are not limited to Security and Surveillance drones, agriculture drones, delivery drones (medical or food supplies), mapping and surveying drones, and drones operating in harsh and difficult environments for data gathering.

Length: 10 to 30 hours

Fee: US$3000 plus drone kits

Setting: Private, one-on-one and in-classroom Public courses offered.

Locations: Online or In-classroom in Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver, Canada.

Topics:

Communications Systems
Communication systems for any type of robotics application is its core part. The attendees will learn short and long-range P2P data and video link communications between the ground control station and drone. This also includes 4G/5G communications systems. Radiofrequency propagation methods for transmission and reception of various aviation communication and data link systems will be covered.

Ground Control Station
Just like the aircraft pilots operate the airplane from the cockpit, the drone pilots and operators control the drone telemetry and flight computers from the ground. In this session, attendees will learn various types of open-source ground stations available, the best option to choose from and how to use them. The attendees will learn how to build ground station whether a cloud-based station or a smartphone application like DJI. They will learn various types of communication systems being used and how to decode them.

Drone Firmware and Software

AI-based systems are main requirement for any robotic project and product out there. This course includes Autonomous and AI-based mission planning systems for the urban, forest, and mountain areas and regeneration of environment with point cloud data. Software development will also include an obstacle avoidance system, precision landing system for indoor and outdoor applications, Simultaneous localization, and mapping for indoor and outdoor applications.

Debugging and Simulation
Like any other software on the market, there is a lot of debugging and testing involve with drone software applications. Before taking out drone for the first test flight, we test the hardware and software operations in a simulating environment. Simulation involves basic flight tests and sensors to completely autonomous flight obstacle avoidance and precision landing.

Testing
Simple laboratory test equipment will be used such as digital multimeter, power supply, and soldering station. Advanced test equipment can be used for large projects such as oscilloscopes, signal/waveform generators, and spectrum analyzers.
